Support Groups

Drop in to a new moms group when you are ready to meet new friends and talk about the joys and challenges of motherhood. An experienced maternal-infant health educator facilitates the informal discussion. Groups are held weekly and registration is not required. Babies welcome!

Inova Alexandria Center New Moms Group

  • Tuesdays, 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.
  • Inova HealthPlex-Franconia/Springfield
  • 6355 Walker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22310
  • Classroom 1-105 (enter through main entrance, go down the hall that is to the right of the elevators, first room on the right)
  • Please note this space has a hard surface floor, so be sure to bring a blanket or mat if you would like to sit on the floor with your baby.
  • Park in patient parking or make use of the free valet services at the main entrance.

Breastfeeding Support Group (Arlington Virginia Hospital Center)

  • While breastfeeding is a natural process, it can be challenging especially in the early weeks. This popular group meets weekly providing encouragement to new and experienced breastfeeding moms through the first year and beyond. Discussion topics may include sore nipples, infant weight gain, nipple shields, milk supply concerns, formula supplements, exclusive pumping, introducing solids, infant sleep and much more. A Board Certified Lactation Consultant/RN is present to answer your questions. Babies are welcome.
  • When: Wednesdays at 12:00 pm and Thursdays at 10:30 am
